CLUB STATEMENT: 1ST TEAM MANAGEMENT APPOINTMENT

Crewe FC are delighted to announce that Liam O’Reilly has been appointed as the new 1st Team Manager with immediate effect.

Having previously spent over 10 years playing for & captaining the Club, O’Reilly will now take full control of 1st Team matters ahead of the new Cheshire Football League season.

Steve Parker, Crewe FC Chairman had this to say;

“It’s an appointment in keeping with traditions we’ve carried through for the past 10 years, putting trust in young, local, ambitious managers and coaches that have a real determination and hunger to succeed.

As a Club, we felt it was important to move quickly and do our business early and I’m delighted with the outcome.

I expect Liam will bring all the traits and qualities he displayed when he played here and I’m convinced the players will thoroughly enjoy working and playing under him.

He’s part of the Clubs fabric, he understands it and we are delighted he’s taken on this responsibility.

He has inherited a hugely talented group of players, and we’re confident that they, collectively, will achieve great things in the near future”.

Liam had this to say about rejoining the Club;

“When you’re approached by the Club you’ve played for for over 10years of your career with regards to being their new manager, there was only ever going to be one answer.

The way the Club is run, the direction they are going and the quality of the players that are here & coming through made it an easy decision.

The current squad, many of which have already committed ahead of next season, is very talented & with a couple of additions, I’m expecting us to have a very successful season.

There’s already a fantastic support network in place with Ray, Maggie and Nipper and we’ve moved quickly to secure Nathan Hughes and Micky Mellor to assist with coaching and player recruitment, respectively.

I really can’t wait to get started with the team and I’m confident we’ll pick up where we left off this season when we finally return”.
