Crewe FC are delighted to announce that Scotty Edwards has been appointed as the new First Team Manager with immediate effect.
Edwards returns to the Club he helped establish in 1998, being the first person to ever captain Crewe and subsequently also became the Clubs first ever Player of the Season.
Having progressed with his son’s Junior team from Under 8s all the way through to Open Age football, with a host of silverware along the way, his dynamic and attacking Crewe FC U18s and Reserves teams would have undoubtedly enjoyed similar success if it wasn’t for the global pandemic 2 years ago that brought a halt to all football.
However, when the opportunity to manage the 1st Team came up, it was an easy decision to make.
Steve Parker, Crewe FC Chairman had this to say;
“Scott was my Captain at Crewe FC when I first came to the Club. I quickly learned about the standards he set and the expectations he had of you as a player. They were incredibly high. That is something that hasn’t changed when he’s become a manager.
When we knew Jack would be stepping down, he was the first and only person I contacted & I’m delighted that he has accepted the challenge of getting this team where we all feel it should be.
In addition to that, he has a real faith and belief in young talent and some of those coming through at the Club will have a great chance to impress him going forward’.
Edwards, who will begin his spell in charge at home to Whaley Bridge on Wednesday before hosting Winstanley Warriors on Saturday is looking forward to the challenge ahead.
“I couldn’t turn it down. I’ve always considered Crewe FC to be my club so when Steve gave me a call, there was no way I was going to let the opportunity pass me by.
“I’ve watched the games recently & whilst the team haven’t necessarily been on the right end of the scoreline, they aren’t a million miles away to where they need to be either.
There’s a few things we’ll do differently and a few lads who I’ll be bringing in, but I genuinely believe there is enough quality to have a really good second half of the season. There are 16 games left and a huge amount of points for us to play for. I can’t wait to get started”.
